Cecil Thomas Nee Lantey Sunkwa-Mills is an accomplished media and broadcasting executive with over 30 years of extensive experience across various sectors, including media, banking, agribusiness, and information technology in the West Africa sub-region. Currently serving as the President of the Ghana Independent Broadcasters Association, and a Cecil is a recognized leader dedicated to advancing the creative arts and media landscape.
His impressive career includes pivotal roles such as Managing Director of Multichoice Ghana, where he championed initiatives that showcased Ghanaian film content on platforms like Africa Magic, ROK GH,and ShowMax, significantly enhancing the visibility of local productions. His contributions to the industry have been acknowledged with prestigious accolades, including the CEO of the Year for TV/Entertainment Award at the 2019 Ghana CEO Summit and the Exclusive Men of the Year – EMY Awards Africa for Media Excellence in 2020.
In addition to his executive roles, Cecil actively participates on the boards of Crystal Group Holding and Prudential Life Insurance Ghana, and serves as the Executive Director of NTSS Limited and CEO of T&C Farms. He is passionate about fostering innovation in media and agriculture, advocating for policies thatenable these sectors to thrive in a rapidly evolving digital landscape.

DARIUS MATHESON
Mrs. Darius Matheson is a 25-year member of the Directors Guild of Canada, contributing her skills to Hollywood hits Final Destination, Twilight Saga and Final Cut and to long running TV series Supernatural.
She arrived in Ghana in July, 2021 to make the docufilm “Art of Healing” which details the work of artist and educator, Kwame Akoto-Bamfo and his efforts to heal the painful legacies of the Trans-Atlantic slave trade.
Privileged to work and live among the creatives in Ghana and recognizing the potential to help develop a globally competitive film industry, she co-founded V1 Film Company through which she continues to write scripts and develop films.
Her experience with multi-million dollar budgets, scheduling scripts and running film sets, alongside her financial acumen and creative abilities make her a force to be acknowledged in the emerging film community of Ghana. She remains a lifelong traveler and a student of cultures and people
STANLEY AIDELOJE OHIKHUARE
Stanley Aideloje Ohikhuare, originating from the historic Benin Kingdom in present-day Nigeria, is a trained Fine Artist and accomplished independent filmmaker with over 24 years of professional filmmaking experience. Having a portfolio of over 30 independent films and more than 40 international awards, he embodies remarkable creativity and unwavering commitment to the art of filmmaking, along with the preservation and promotion ofequity, history, and culture. An accomplished creative expert with extensive expertise in graphics, animation, and film production, he is finalizing the post-production of a feature film poised to be a pioneering project driven by
Artificial Intelligence on a global scale. Widely admired by his numerous fans under the names ‘Stanlee’ or ‘Xtanlee,’ he is renowned for crafting distinctive, research-driven narratives rich in depth, surrealism, subtext, and philosophical significance.
He is one of the first Nigerian animators and a groundbreaking filmmaker whose strong commitment and creative style have been key in shaping modern Nollywood cinema. Well-versed in all aspects of filmmaking, from story development to post-production execution, he has achieved a high level of expertise in his craft.
In 2024, his film, ‘A Tune Away,’ centered on a young man with autism as the protagonist, was the subject of an academic review at the University of Cambridge. His debut novel, PIDGIN, which merges romantic high fantasy with historical fiction, was recently published as an adaptation of his high-concept screenplay.
This marks the inaugural installment in his ten-part Blood and Spirit series. Stanley Ohikhuare is the founder and convener of the Realtime International Film Festival (RTF), through which he has promoted collaboration and inclusivity while mentoring and supporting the development of over 2,000 talents since 2016. Over the past two years (2023 & 2024), the festival has been hosted in Kent and Worcester, UK, attracting more than 100 international filmmakers and tourists. Notably, Stan has fully financed the festival independently from its inception in 2016, demonstrating his focus on purpose over monetary gains – a steadfast dedication to utilizing filmmaking as an instrument for change. He builds community and establishes partnerships everywhere he goes.
At the closing ceremony of RTF 2024 in Worcester, he announced the launch of the ‘Midlands Indie Collective.’ The 10th Realtime International Film Festival presents an impressive program spanning the UK, USA, Nigeria, Hong Kong, Germany, and France, highlighting partnerships with exceptional independent filmmakers from around the world.
Stan is the founder of ‘FILM RESOLVE,’ a free academy dedicated to equipping young individuals with filmmaking skills. Since 2013, Stan has been committed to providing free training to young individuals aged 7 to 19. A recent film produced by students from Sittingbourne, Kent, UK, has gained international acclaim, with its premiere set for the Africa International Film Festival in December 2024. He recently concluded a comparable session in Worcester in February 2025, during which young participants produced another film. Stan is deeply engaged in his social change endeavors, including ‘Project Commutal’ and ‘FilmX’.
June 2025 will again herald the introduction of his latest endeavor, the ‘Africa International AI Festival.’ The inaugural African A.I. Festival, aptly named ‘BLACK-AI Fest,’ is scheduled to debut in both the United Kingdom and Nigeria. Stan’s approach to filmmaking is rooted in collaboration, equity, and a dedication to social transformation rather than selfish gain.
He is passionate about sharing his expertise in filmmaking, and he has been invited to teach at various esteemed institutions, including the University of Worcester, the Screen and Film School in Birmingham, Pan-Atlantic University in Lagos, the University of Benin, and the Multichoice Talent Factory, among others. Stan is a dedicated husband and a proud father to four children.
Frank Mawuli Dagadu
Frank Dagadu Mawuli practising filmmaker and a tutor at the University of Media, Arts and Communication – Institute of Film and Television. Over the past decade, I have worked in various capacities within the film and media industry, including as a producer, director, assistant director, scriptwriter, script supervisor, camera operator, and production coordinator.
My professional experience includes collaborations with a range of local and international organisations such as Sunny Productions, the AfriWomen Network, the African Channel (Ghana Bureau), Graft Foundation, the University of Ghana School of Languages, Ice Bag Multimedia, Asaase Inscriptions, Footsteps Studio, FireBeads Media, and Farmhouse Productions. These engagements have allowed me to contribute to various projects, including documentaries, short films, television series, educational dramas, and feature-length films.
In addition to my work in production and academia, I have been involved in youth-focused film initiatives. From 2015 to 2024, I volunteered as a festival coordinator and media liaison for the Benpaali Young Filmmakers Festival, supporting the development of emerging filmmakers.
JASON NARTEY
Jason Nartey is a natural storyteller, Jason and his teams have had the privilege of telling compelling stories for both local and international brands across numerous African markets.
His storytelling talent has also found expression in filmmaking, with notable success. His debut film, Sena, aired on DSTV’s Akwaaba Magic, marking a bold entry into the cinematic space. His latest film, Yen Ara Asaase Ni, currently broadcasts on networks in the UK and USA, further establishing his creative voice on the global stage.
Over the span of his advertising career, he has led brand-building efforts for multinational giants such as MTN, Vodafone, Coca-Cola Safaricom, Guinness, Woodin, Vlisco and many others, across over 12 African countries including Ghana, Nigeria, Kenya, Côte d’Ivoire, Benin, Togo, Senegal, Cameroon, and South Africa.
Currently, Jason serves as the Founder/Director of The Storytellers, Group Creative Director at Ogilvy Ghana, and part-time lecturer at the Accra International School of Advertising and Design (AiSad)

With an unwavering passion for the cinematic arts and a strong belief in the potential of Ghana’s film industry, Tony has solidified his position as a dedicated cinephile.

Mortinno Morton is a Ghanaian film director, editor, and producer based in Atlanta Georgia known for his powerful storytelling and cinematic innovation. With a deep passion for exploring human emotion and social complexity, his work spans acclaimed films like Spirits We Dance, God is Africa, IF ONLY, The Burial of Kojo, Unplugg, and Ekwa.

Mr. SOME Emmanuel
Mr. SOME Emmanuel was born on September 16, 1981 in Dabou, Republic of Côte d’Ivoire. He is married and has two children. He holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration and a Master’s degree in Private Judicial Law, with over 15 years’ experience in public administration in Burkina Faso.
Mr. SOME Emmanuel is a civil servant working for the Burkina Faso Ministry of Culture. He has held administrative responsibilities from 2007 to the present day. Since May 2023, he has been assigned to the Bureau Burkinabè du Droit d’Auteur as Legal Advisor and research officer. Prior to this date, he held the same position from November 2016 to May 2023 at the General Secretariat of the Ministry in charge of Culture.
In this position, he was responsible for the administrative and technical management of the general secretariat. During this period, he supported the Secretary General in the organization of national and international conferences, symposia, seminars, meetings and festivals.
To this end, he played a leading role in the organizing committees of international events, notably the 2015, 2017, 2019, 2021 and 2023 editions of the Ouagadougou Pan-African Film and Television Festival(FESPACO). At this last edition, the 29th, which took place from February 22 to March 1, 2025, he chaired the “Fespaco Short” sub-commission and was responsible for, among other things :
– plan all interventions essential to the commission’s success ;
– ensure the timely sharing of information on working and living conditions for members of the official short-fiction film juries;
– plan screening of films selected for the official competition, for members of the official short film juries.
Appointed Director of Standards and Quality in December 2013, after two years of study in the Republic of China (Taiwan), culminating in a master’s degree in business administration, he served this position with professionalism until October 2016.
From 2007 to 2011, he was Head of the Regulations and Control Department, organizing the department and carrying out administrative tasks with efficiency and speed.
Mr. SOME Emmanuel has a passion for culture, and particularly for everything to do with cinema and the audiovisual industry.
ARNOLD SETOHOU
Arnold SETOHOU is the manager of the production company New Direction Films, based in Benin.
He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business Management and a Master’s Degree in Audiovisual and Film Production Management. He used to be Unit producer manager, Line producer and executive producer, on national and international productions.
In 2023, MAMI WATA, Tree time Awarded at FESPACO 2023, directed by CJ Fiery Obasi, with Arnold Setohou as Associate Producer, was premiered at SUNDANCE and shortlisted for the Oscars 2024, representing Nigeria.
In 2022, he embarked on the project INDIG FILMS with Barry Pearson (USA). A privately owned, web-based streaming service devoted solely to supporting independent indigenous filmmakers from around the world.

NHYIRABA YAW SOMPA OKYERE
NHYIRABA YAW SOMPA OKYERE is a lawyer, enterprise risk professional, information security master and an author of two books. Yaw has extensive experience as a Finance, Sustainability and Governance lawyer in Ghana. Yaw has about fifteen years’ experience as an Enterprise Risk Management expert and a Finance and Regulatory Compliance practitioner.
Yaw is an Actuarial Science graduate with a Risk Management, Finance and Information Security masters. Yaw has a career spanning across several universal banks in Ghana. He has the unique ability and diversity to provide clients with commercially sound legal advice.
Yaw has a deep understanding of the business landscape in Ghana. His experiences include setting up Enterprise Risk and Regulatory Frameworks in three universal banks in Ghana. Yaw worked as a sole investment adviser on an EUR 8 million European Investment Bank direct finance scheme through UT Bank, he also worked on a USAID Direct Guarantee Agreement with UT Bank and an Agricultural Finance Scheme in Ghana between DANIDA, AGRA and UT Bank. Yaw has worked on Environmental, Social and Governance projects with both International Finance Corporation (IFC) and Advanced Finance and Investment Group (AFIG) whiles he worked with UT Bank and First Atlantic Bank.
Some of his past roles include working as a Head of Operational and Market Risk at First Atlantic bank where he was the lead in Enterprise Risk design, implementation, monitoring and continuous improvement. Yaw was the senior officer responsible for conducting gap assessment at the bank and to implement the control framework necessary to keep the operations within acceptable risk levels. Yaw led in building a bank risk profile adjustable to the changing context and reported directly to the board on a continuing basis. Yaw was also responsible for policy draft, implementation, and trainings for Information Security and Sustainability Banking. He led the First Atlantic Bank to achieve its first ISO 27001 and PCI DSS certifications.
Yaw was a member of the Legal team that acted as local counsel together with Asafo & Co as external legal counsel to AFC and Zenith in respect of the provision of a line of credit of up to US$ 85.5 million to a borrower in respect of an EPC contract of which the Government of Ghana is a beneficiary. Yaw was also part of the Legal team that worked with the Government of Ghana on the US $ 3 Billion Sovereign Bond Issue in 2021. Yaw was recognized by the Institute of Directors-Ghana, the African Corporate Governance Network, and the Bank of Ghana as the Partnership sponsor as an ‘Up and Coming Director of the Year’ in 2021. Yaw served as the Secretary/Member of the African Corporate Governance Network (ACGN) that reviewed the African Corporate Governance Code for the African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM) of the African Union. Yaw served as the lawyer that reviewed the Constitution of the ACGN in 2022. His second book, ‘Be the Difference’ was nominator for Best Author in the Entertainment Achievement Awards in Ghana.
Yaw served as a lawyer for the National Film Authority and led the policy drafts and proposal for a Ghana Film Tax Incentive Policy. Yaw has also contributed to drafting of the Legislative Instrument to the Development and Classification of Film Act, 2016 (ACT 935). He currently serves as the Head of Legal and Risk for Metropolitan Ghana.
Yaw has an MBA from the Business School Netherland and an LLB from Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration. He is a member of the Ghana Bar Association and the Institute of Directors-Ghana, Yaw is an accredited ISO 27001 Lead Implementer, Lead Auditor, and Certified Trainer. He is a trained ADR practitioner as well as a Compliance Management System Implementer. Yaw is an author of two books and has been part of some landmark Litigation and Arbitration cases in Ghana. He is a co-contributor to the 2022 Legal 500 Public Procurement Country Comparative Guide and the IFLR Africa Market Makers 2022 Report. GYASIWA ANSAH ABA PAINTSIL
Gyasiwa Ansah Aba Paintsil is a trailblazing Ghanaian filmmaker, television producer, actress and creative entrepreneur with over 30 years of experience in media, marketing, and cultural advocacy. She is known for her leadership, innovation, and dedication to promoting African narratives through film, television, and fashion.
She began her education at Holy Child and Achimota Schools, later earning a Diploma in Theatre Arts from the University of Ghana and a MFA in Film and Production from New York University. She also pursued professional training in documentary filmmaking in Cairo.
As Executive Director of Film Africa Limited since 1997, Gyasiwa has produced award-winning works such as The Good Old Days, Golden Stool, and Crossroads of People, Crossroads of Trade. Her films have been showcased at international festivals including FESPACO and the London Film Festival. She also worked at Target Saatchi and Saatchi Ghana. Then continued to serve as General Manager of Television Africa for 20 years, where she led the production of innovative content like the children’s reality show Amazing Child.
Her career includes roles in advertising and public relations, and she has contributed to education as a teaching assistant and alumni leader. A passionate advocate for African culture, she is a board member of the Bisa Aberwa Museum and was enskinned as Queenmother of Daboya in 2016 and is Currently the head of Production at the National Film Authority.
Gyasiwa is also the founder of fashion brands promoting African aesthetics and body positivity, including Fuller Figure, GSpoke, and Daboya Bespoke Designs. Fluent in multiple Ghanaian languages, she continues to inspire through storytelling, mentoring, and her commitment to cultural preservation
WILLIAM MANFUL
William Manful is the deputy head of Mission and Head of Chancery at the Ghana Embassy in The Hague. He joined the foreign service in February 2002 and has since served at various Ghanaian missions abroad including London, Cotonou, and Madrid where he successfully organised a Ghana Film Festival.
He is a film buff and once aspired to be a filmmaker. He has an MPhil in international relations from the University of Cambridge in the UK.

TARIRO WASHE
A passionate, Pan-African storyteller, TARIRO WASHE is adamant about reclaiming the African narrative by having African stories, told by Africans, the African way. As a conservationist, Washe believes that African solutions will solve Africa’s conservation problems.
Washe is committed to the establishment of a unified, dignified and proud Africa through intentional storytelling and the empowerment of women and children. A proponent of AfroFuturism, Washe uses collaboration to ignite zeal for authenticity in the African filmmaker.
Washe is currently producing and acting in ALKEBULAN: THE GARDEN OF EDEN, a first-of-its-kind, multinational series of films. The inaugural film is a co-production between Zimbabwe and Rwanda with 7 AFRICAN COUNTRIES represented, namely: ZIMBABWE, RWANDA, SENEGAL, KENYA, UGANDA, NIGERIA AND SOUTH AFRICA. ALKEBULAN is set for theatrical release in Africa first, 2025.
Washe’s debut production Gonarezhou The Movie (GTM), an anti-poaching film, won the Best First Feature Film Award at the 2020 Pan African Film Festival in Los Angeles.
GTM was also a finalist at the 2020 Flickers’ Rhode Island (USA) International Film Festival and was nominated for the National Art Merit Award’s Outstanding Feature Film 2022 (Zimbabwe). GTM was selected for screening at the prestigious Monaco Streaming Film Festival 2022.
In 2021, Washe released The Story of Nehanda (SON), a period piece based on the trial of Mbuya Nehanda, the female Zimbabwean spirit medium who led the first uprising against colonial rule in the country in 1896. SON was nominated for Outstanding Short Film at the 2022 National Art Merit Awards (Zimbabwe).
Washe is a self-taught filmmaker and a vehement storyteller who strongly believes that narratives shape perceptions and so culture. Her other interests include conservation, as well as the empowerment of women and young people. Washe volunteers at the Zimbabwean all-female anti-poaching unit called Akashinga (“The Brave One”).
She is also the Founder and President of NdineTariro (“I Have Hope”) Foundation, an organisation that supports the vulnerable and young people to attain their dreams. Her most recent initiative, Vana Musango (“Children in the Wilderness”), enables vulnerable children to have wilderness experience while learning the importance of conservation.
ABA ARTHUR
ABA ARTHUR is a dynamic storyteller and multi-talented actor rooted in Ghana, West Africa and raised in The United States of America. She earned a BFA in Performing Arts and BA in Political Science from the University of Colorado-Boulder, where she now serves on the Dean’s Advisory Board. Based in Atlanta and Los Angeles, Aba’s film roles include Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and The Color Purple (2023). She’s featured in various TV shows including Netflix’s Cobra Kai and Legacies, NBC’s Southland, WB’s Boomerang, OWN’s David Makes Man, and ABC’s Queens. Aba recently starred on stage as “Jaja” in Tony-winning Jaja’s African Hair Braiding and recurred as “Samara” in the Apple TV+ series Bad Monkey.
Complementing her screen work, Aba is the founder of The Ohemaa Project, the company that produced her debut film The Womb (2018), which premiered globally at Ghana’s Black Star International Film Festival (2020).

SIR JET NOVUKA
Sir Jet Novuka is a South African born international acclaimed award-winning actor and producer.
Novuka’s career spans more than three decades, starting out from theatre where he graced the stage with South African prominent actors that toured nationally and international. He graduated from the stage with the South African groundbreaking Television series called IINGCINGA, directed by the acclaimed Herman Binge.
He hasn’t looked back since then, he is one of the most hard-working sorts after actor, He recently produced an award-winning film LETTERS OF HOPE which has won best artistic bravery award at the Durban international film festival. Sir Jet Novuka who also star in the feature film won Best supporting actor award at the rapid lion film festival. In addition to that, he also produced a masterpiece of a short film called Side Effects where he also stars in it in 2020 during Covid-19 SA Lockdown.
Sir Jet Novuka recently created and produced Mthatha International Film Festival in his home Province, Eastern Cape where he founded this prestigious platform for local and international filmmakers to showcase their films. He is now pursuing his producing skills with the recent work as the producer; A shepherd’s Joy (2025).
In addition to that, He is a seasoned TV and film actor and is among the most recognized talented actors in Mzansi. Jet Novuka first burst into the entertainment industry at an early age and is best known for playing roles where he speaks isiXhosa well, of which he is proud of.
On a personal level, Jet strongly believes that people should be rooted and must have a strong sense of identity.

Laurene Manaa Abdallah
Laurene Manaa Abdallah is an Instructor at New York University Abu Dhabi. She holds a PhD in Literature from Makerere University, Uganda, supported by the Gerda Henkel Foundation.
She also holds an MFA in Cinema and Television from EICAR in France, a Diploma in Film and Television from the National Film and Television Institute (NAFTI), Ghana, and a Postgraduate Certificate in Teaching and Learning in Higher Education from the University of Education, Winneba.
Between 2013 and 2021, Laurene taught various courses in cinema studies at NAFTI, NYU Ghana, and the University of Cape Coast. As a producer, her debut feature film Keteke (2017) won Best Screenplay at the 26th edition of FESPACO in the Étalon de Yennenga category. She also produced 40 and Single, a television series that won the Audience Award at the 2018 LA Film Festival, and Room 5, an animation that screened at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival in 2021.
Her short films Stef, Perfection, and As the Days Went By were showcased in the Short Film Corner at the Cannes Film Festival. As an event producer, Laurene has served as Assistant Festival Director for the Accra Francophone Film Festival, organized by the Institut Français and the French Embassy, and worked with the Real Life Documentary Film Festival, organized by Ka’Yelema and New York University.
She has also served as a moderator and curator at various festivals and conferences, including the NDIVA Women’s Film Festival, EUFILMFEST 2021, and INPUT (input-tv.org). Additionally, Laurene has contributed to curriculum development as a content expert for the Digital Film School, supported by Deutsche Welle, and has served as a jury member for numerous projects across the African continent.
She has several academic and creative publications to her credit.
